Year 1 SCIENCE Australian Curriculum “I Can” Rubric and Label Package

This package includes Year 1 Australian Curriculum Science outcomes presented in “I Can” statements in both rubric and label form.

“I Can” Rubrics

These Australian Curriculum “I Can” Rubrics are designed for you to use in your classroom with your students. Each rubric contains outcomes from the Australian Curriculum in an “I Can” statement.

The “I Can” statements are presented with a star rating based on the achievement expected by the end of the year.

★ E grade (very low achievement)

★★ D grade (limited achievement)

★★★ C grade (satisfactory achievement)

★★★★ B grade (high achievement)

★★★★★ A grade (excellent achievement)

Simply print out and provide each student with a copy so that they can clearly see the expectations required, track their progress and become accountable for their learning.

Teachers can communicate with their students about which star rating they would like them to aim for (this can be different for each child). Ideally, by the end of the year students will be achieving 3 stars to achieve satisfactory progress in that area.

“I Can” Labels

These Australian Curriculum Labels are designed for you to attach to your students’ work samples. Each label contains an outcome from the Australian Curriculum in an “I Can” statement. The “I Can” statements are presented with a star rating based on the achievement expected by the end of the year (see these above).

Simply print and cut out the required label and attach to each work sample.

These labels allow both parents and students to see which outcomes have been demonstrated in the displayed activity.

“I Can” Display Labels

These Australian Curriculum Display Labels are designed for you to create informative displays in your classroom. Each label contains an outcome from the Australian Curriculum in an “I Can” statement.

Simply print and cut out the required label and display on the wall with your students’ work.

These display labels allow both parents and students to see which outcomes have been demonstrated in the displayed activity.
