Description

My students just love taking turns to take attendance using this chalkboard attendance chart every day…learning to count and use addition strategies without even realising it!

A girl and boy are chosen each day. The girl counts how many girls are at school and places that many stars on the attendance chart and writes the number of girls in the sum below. The boy does the same with the boy students. We then use the ‘counting on’ strategy as a class to work out how many people there are altogether and write this onto the chart with a whiteboard marker.
